Recruiting/Guiding Course

Our guides are our greatest resource, so the recruiting process is very important to us.  We also emphasise the training and further education of the guides.

Our biggest challenge, though, is to have enough qualified guides.  To engage the right number of guides, and at the same time give them a satisfactory number of tours, is a challenge we take very seriously.

Lofoten Guide Service AS and Tromsø Guide Service are seeking guides for the 2009 season (April – September).

We need guides mainly for cruise ship and Hurtigruten (Coastal Steamer) tours.  Most of the tours are by bus.

We are looking for people with good interpersonal and language skills, especially in German in combination with one or more of the following; French, Italian and Spanish.  Our guides need to be adaptable, enthusiastic, and willing to work hard.

Those wishing to guide in languages other than their mother-tongue will be interviewed by a native speaker to assess their fluency.

Priority will be given to those applicants who are able to begin at the start of May, and stay until mid-August.  Basic training will be given before the season starts.
